Known for their hand crafted quality, Irish Hooks (a.k.a., Hartman Hooks) are the quality standard for rug hooks. Many rug hookers will only hook with an Irish Hook.
This version, with an "Ergo Handle" (for ergonomic) is the most popular handle style. It has a tapered handle with a thumb indent, allowing for a comfortable, positive grip. It is popular for all types of rug hooking, both fine cut and primitive rug hooking. We offer it in 6mm and 8mm sizes. The 6mm works well with many wool cut sizes and is a popular first rug hook. The 8mm size is designed for more primitive hooking, with #8 cuts or larger.
The handle is made of yew wood and because of its dense and closed grain, it is durable and feels great in the hand. The hook is made of handcrafted brass, individually crafted and smoothed so that there are no sharp edges.
