Known for their hand crafted quality, Irish Hooks (a.k.a., Hartman Hooks) are the quality standard for rug hooks. Many rug hookers will only hook with an Irish Hook.
This version, with an "Ergo Handle" (for ergonomic) is the most popular handle style. It has a tapered handle with a thumb indent, allowing for a comfortable, positive grip. This version of the Ergo has a "bent" shaft, which some rug hookers find easier to use. Our version has the thumb indent "inline" with the bend, as shown in the picture.
We offer this hook in a 5mm size, making it very versatile, in that it can be used with many wool cut sizes, so is ideal for a first hook.
The handle is made of yew wood and because of its dense and closed grain, it is durable and feels great in the hand. The hook is made of handcrafted brass, individually crafted and smoothed so that there are no sharp edges.
