The Fraser Model 500-1 was developed as a more robust, bench-mounted alternative to the portable Model A. It is designed for rug hookers who cut wool frequently, prefer a fixed setup, or want greater stability during extended cutting sessions. It also supports wider wool cuts, up to 2" wide, making it more versatile for braided rugs as well as rug hooking.
Compared to the Model A, the 500-1 is intended as a permanent or semi-permanent table mounted cutter, making it well suited for home studios, shared workspaces, and teaching environments where consistency and durability are priorities.
The 500-1 accommodates eleven interchangeable cutter heads, each producing a different fabric width. Depending on your cutting needs, you will need to select one or more cutter heads. Additional heads can also be purchased separately.
HoneyBee Hive became the manufacturer in 2026 following the transition of the business from Fraser Rugs. We produce new Model 500-1 cutters based on the original Fraser design, continuing its straightforward mechanical construction and long-standing compatibility with Fraser cutter heads.
