Experience the enchanting world of fairy tales at Cheney Hall! Don't miss our final New England stop for The Golden Age of Fairy Tales rug hooking exhibition. Immerse yourself in over 100 rugs inspired by the golden age of fairy tale illustrators.
This one-day show and hook-in will be held on March 16, 2024 at Cheney Hall, in Manchester, CT. Click here to see the event in our event calendar.
The exhibit is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with door prizes, and a rug hooking demonstration. There will be two 45 minute gallery talks starting at 10:00 and 1:00. In addition, there will be a hook-in and a rug hooking class. For kids and families there will be a special "eye spy" gallery walk with prizes at 2:00.
There are three ticket levels available (children under 12 are free with a adult entry):
Show Admission: includes access to the exhibition, rug hooking demonstration and the gallery talks.
Show Admission & Hook-in: bring your current rug hooking project and hook with others and enjoy the show! Includes admission to the show, as well as a reserved hook-in seat, and box lunch.
Show Admission & Class: new to rug hooking? Sign up for this class, which runs from 10:00 to 4:00, and includes admission to show, a box lunch, pattern, and wool (please bring your own frame and hook!). The class will begin in the main gallery at 10:00 and include the 10:00 gallery talk, followed by small group instruction. The class will be taught by Carol Lachance, a McGown certified rug hooking instructor, visiting from Henderson, NC. She will teach students using a 10" x 10" pattern of the Mad Hatter's hat from Alice in Wonderland. The full hooked rug The Mad Hatter, illustrated by John Tenniel. This will make a great pillow top when complete!
